Critical Information
Several steps in this process must be followed exactly or you may damage your changer. Observe directions and warnings carefully. If at any point you feel the need to consult a technician for further assistance, do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-289-6550.

Step 1
Locate the payout area of the coin tube that is jammed.
At the bottom of each coin tube is a slide that will pay out one coin at a time.
From left to right, the tubes are quarter, nickel and dime. Apply the following steps to the tube that is jamming.

Step 2 – Use a thin, flat object (such as a letter opener) to clear the coin jam.
Carefully insert the letter opener STRAIGHT and FLAT into the top part of the coin slide area.
Do not twist or pry!
The goal is to separate the bottom coin from the rest of the coin stack. This will usually release a coin stuck in the slide.
Once the jam has been cleared, continue on to Step 3.
If the jam has not been cleared after a few attempts, the tubes will need to be removed. Continue on to Step 3. Removing the tubes will be discussed later in these directions.

Step 3 – Reset the tube meter and tube inventory.
Press the “Yes” and “No” buttons at the same time, and release.
The text displayed on your vend station may vary from what is show in this video. Press “Yes” until you see the “Tube” meter. Take note of the amount on your system’s display.
Press “Yes” again, then “No” when it displays “Done?” Press or hold down “No” to dispense coins at each DSP screen. Dispense coins until each tube is empty.
Dispense coins until each tube is empty.
Empty the coin return cup periodically during this process. If the coin return cup fills completely, it may create an additional jam.
If coins are jamming instead of dispensing, you may again attempt to unjam the sliders with a thin flat object.
Even if there are no coins left in the tubes, keep trying to pay out coins until the tube total meter shows zero.
For more details, see your vend station’s user manual, or the video on Removing Change.

Step 4 – Test to see if this has resolved the problem.
Make sure that the coin cup is completely empty before testing.
For each type of coin, insert a coin and press the coin return.
If each coin is paid out successfully, you are done with this video. You will probably want to add change back into the changer.

For more details, see your vend station’s user manual on loading the change tubes, or the video on Adding Change.

If any of the coins fail to pay out, continue on to the next step.

Step 5 – Disconnect Power from the Jamex Vend Station

Step 6 – Remove the Coin Acceptor

Lift latches, push the top of the acceptor forward.
Swing acceptor forward and down. Unplug gray cable.
Swing acceptor towards a vertical position, then lift up.

Step 7 – Remove the Tube Assembly

There are four plastic tabs holding the tubes in place.
Flex the changer housing and release the tabs at the top of the tube assembly. Pull forward on the tubes if needed.
Flex the housing again and gently pull forward and upward on the tubes to release the bottom two tabs.
Any remaining coins in the tubes will fall out at this point. Be prepared with something to hold the coins.
Remove the top cover and set it aside. This will expose the connection for the coin tube harness.
Note the location and orientation of your coin tube harness connector, which may look different than the one featured in this video.
Gently unplug the coin tube harness. It is delicate, and if it becomes damaged the changer will need to be replaced.

There have been many versions of this model of changer over the years; yours may look different from the one shown in this video.

The location of the coin tube harness connector and the payout solenoid connection may differ on your model.

Step 8 – Inspect Coin Slides and Payout Arms

Push up on payout arms to check for smooth movement and dispense remaining change.
Check the slide for any pieces that may have broken.
Check for anything sticky interfering with movement.
Check for dimes or other debris interfering with the payout arm, and remove anything that you find.
Check for missing or loose solenoid pins. The pins shown in the video are properly seated.
Check that the solenoid headers are plugged in completely, and in the same order as the solenoids themselves.

Step 9 – Clean the Coin Slides

CAUTION: When cleaning, use ONLY warm water and mild detergent solution.

DO NOT USE ALCOHOL or any abrasive material.

Go back over the surfaces with only water to remove any soap residue.
Allow the area to dry completely before re-assembly.

Step 10 – Reinstall the Tube Assembly

Carefully plug in the coin tube harness in the same location and orientation that it was in when you found it.
If the delicate coin tube harness is damaged, the tubes will always report “full” and will need to be replaced.
Fit the bottom of the tubes into the slider section.
Tilt the coin tube assembly and gently make adjustments until all four tabs snap into place.
Reinstall the top cover. Line up the top so that the two tabs slide upward into the notches in the changer housing.
Push the bottom of the cover until it clicks into place behind the lip at the top of the tube assembly.

Step 11 – Reinstall the Coin Acceptor

Fit the bottom tabs into their slots, swing forward.
Plug in cable, swing acceptor upright.
Pull up on coin return plunger, engage latches.

Step 12 – Reconnect Power to the Jamex Vend Station

Step 13 – Test Tube Payout

For each type of coin, insert a coin a press the coin return.
If there is still a problem, try repeating all of these steps a second time. If that does not solve the issue, please call our support line at 1-800-289-6550.

Check the tube meter once again (Step 3). If the tube meter will not stay at zero, the coin tube harness may have been damaged. Check to make sure that the coin tube harness is plugged in correctly. If the problem persists, contact Jamex for a replacement.
